ParticipantHere I am having some difficulty understanding, “(4) the effect which is almost mature”.
In the second paragraph, Srila Prabhupada writes, “The Sanskrit word kūṭam means that they are almost ready to produce the seed, or the effect of the seed.” and “Those effects described as “almost mature” refer to the distress from which one is suffering at present”.
The confusion is basically what is “almost mature reactions”. Is it “the distress a living entity suffering now” or “those will produce the seed”. If you could resolve this it would be helpful prabhuji.
The verse that Srila Prabhupada explains here can be found in a BG 9.2 Purport.
aprārabdha-phalaṁ pāpaṁ
kūṭaṁ bījaṁ phalonmukham
krameṇaiva pralīyeta
viṣṇu-bhakti-ratātmanāmFor those who are engaged in the devotional service of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, all sinful reactions, whether fructified, in the stock, or in the form of a seed, gradually vanish.
Prabhuji for a better understanding it would be helpful to understand the details of what is “Aprārabdha”, “Kūṭa”, “Bīja” and Prārabdha, referred to in the above verse. In the following post, you have very clearly explained Prārabdha. Just wanted to understand it with reference to others mentioned in this verse.
Would be grateful prabhuji if you could resolve.

ParticipantMost people are not progressing because they are not doing any service. They do some chanting where their mind wanders. Then they read something and their mind is filled with many thoughts. They chit-chat to kill time and overcome loneliness but it is all nonsense.
Thank you for pointing it out prabhuji, I notice these things in me.
Spiritual progress is just like eating food. As you eat food, the hunger subsides, and the feeling of fullness comes. We cannot separate the process of eating from the subsiding of hunger or the feeling of fullness after eating. They come together.
Is it correct to say that this is the necessary and sufficient condition for progress?
But prabhuji in practice I many times noticed that I may feel satisfied and happy sometimes, but it doesn’t last for long it is like coming and going. I wanted to clarify, how can I differentiate the satisfaction of mind that comes from Sattva Guna (Overall the practice and schedule of devotees automatically increase Sattva) and that which comes from spiritual progress. Is time the only parameter?
The basic thing for spiritual progress is to commit to some service to Krishna
In order to avoid any speculation from my end, I want to confirm whether it is correct to say, “commit to a service” is equivalent to “commitment to serve the instructions of a pure devotee of the Lord”

ParticipantThank you very much prabhuji. Because of contaminated ideas in the mind, it is very difficult to understand concepts like, “Everything that looks like a body to us is because of a soul. Without a soul there is no body.”

Prabhuji, if you could also clarify why transcendence is referred to as “Suddha sattva” or “Vasudev Sattva”? Is it used to explain a materially influenced person?

ParticipantHare Krsna Prabhuji, thank you for the detailed answer. I was having difficulty in understanding the following statement.
Hence, this type of activity is called svārabdha-karma or self-started action. It has a basis in the previous action. It is devotional and spiritual but there is a tinge of contamination. Since a person has done something that should not be done hence it is called previous karma. Since it is not pure bhakti, therefore, it is called a karmic activity. But it is not like the ordinary actions of mortals.
I am not able to get how you have explained previous karma. I would be grateful if you could please elaborate on it. Also, I wanted to ask some more questions to understand Bharat Maharaj’s Pastime
- Was the compassion Bharata Maharaja exhibited wrong? If no then, where exactly he went wrong to get so deviated?
- Was Bharata Maharaja becoming dear also svārabdha-karma?
- Also, as practicing devotees should we show compassion in such situations? Will there be any karmic reaction if we don’t show compassion?
